Research area:
The research focus is signal transduction in cancer and inflammation. In particular, we are interested in the elucidation of
•molecular mechanisms of cytokine signal transduction mediated by Janus kinases and STAT transcription factors; (patho)physiologic consequences of Jak/STAT signaling and cross-talk with other signalling pathways (e. g. hypoxia),
•the role of microRNAs in cancer development and growth regulation; microRNAs as biomarkers.
Tasks/Mission:
•The successful candidate will perform research related to the topics of the Signal Transduction Laboratory; possible collaborations e. g. with the Luxembourg Centre of Systems Biomedicine and clinical partners.
•He/she will also contribute to the FNR-funded project “HepmiRSTAT: Inflammatory microRNAs in liver cancer”.
•Participation in teaching activities: Bachelor in Life Sciences / Master in Integrated Systems Biology / Doctoral School of Molecular and Systems Biomedicine.
•Submission of grant proposals and (co-)supervision of Master and PhD students will be encouraged.
Profile:
•A PhD in Biology or Biochemistry (or equivalent)
•Solid background in Biochemistry and Molecular/Cell Biology documented by peer-reviewed publications. Advanced skills and experiences in Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology would be an asset.
